About
Faith & Fantasy is a blog (weblog) website focusing on fantasy fiction. Fantasy can be a wonderful thing–engaging and, well, yes, escapism does play a large role in why I love it. I prefer fantasy to other types of fiction because it takes me away to a new world. A world far away from the evening news, far away from the bills, far away from…well, you get the picture. And I prefer fiction simply because I like a good story! And where else can you get a good story but in a world where anything is possible? From the fantastic (other-world creatures, mythological creatures, yes, including dragons) to the mundane (say, a shepherd), any and all elements are usable by the author in fantasy fiction. Anything is fair game when the author is building his or her own universe.
I agree with C.S. Lewis when he referred to the wonders of God as the “deep magic.” God created the first miracles–and what is magic other than the miraculous? “Magic” is a term we often use to describe many things we don’t understand. And I don’t know about you, but I’ll never be able to wrap my mind around who God is, what God is, and why he loves us. But I do know that God does love me and you. And he created us with incredible imaginations. But then again, is it imagination or do we simply long for the unimaginable wonders of eternity and an everlasting life with God?
Fantasy & Faith–the title of this blog–reflects all of these thoughts roaming around in my head. Thoughts dying to get out.
So if you love fantasy fiction that brings your mind to a better place, you’ll love it here. In this blog, we’ll talk about favorite authors, favorite books, God’s role in the fantastic and maybe even have a contest or two. Feel free to stick around, browse through the site, and sign up to receive my email or RSS updates.
